IdleRealm Prestige Guide | When to Rebirth

By PlayBrain Team··5 min read

Prestige (called Rebirth in IdleRealm) is the end-game reset mechanic that gives you permanent bonuses in exchange for starting over. Knowing when to rebirth and how the bonuses stack is the key to long-term progression.

What Is Rebirth?

Rebirth resets your skills, inventory, gold, and upgrades back to zero. In return, you earn Prestige Points that give permanent multipliers to XP gain, sell prices, and activity speed. Your character name and milestone progress are kept.

Think of it as a New Game+ where everything is easier because of your accumulated bonuses.

When Does Rebirth Unlock?

  • At 25,000 total gold earned, the Rebirth button becomes visible (but not yet usable)
  • At 50,000 total gold earned, you can actually perform the Rebirth
  • The button appears in the top section of the game page with a confirmation dialog

Prestige Points Formula

Points are calculated as:

Points = floor( sqrt( totalGoldEarned / 50,000 ) )

Total Gold EarnedPoints Gained
50,0001
100,0001
200,0002
450,0003
800,0004
5,000,00010

Returns are diminishing. Doubling your gold does not double your points. This means frequent rebirths at moderate gold are often better than one massive grind.

Prestige Bonuses

Each prestige level gives three permanent bonuses:

BonusPer LevelAt Level 5At Level 10
XP Multiplier+10%+50%+100%
Sell Price Multiplier+5%+25%+50%
Speed Multiplier+2%+10%+20%

These bonuses stack with upgrade bonuses. For example, a max-level Mining speed upgrade (-60%) combined with prestige level 10 (+20% speed) means your mining is dramatically faster than a fresh character.

When to First Rebirth

Aim for 50,000 to 80,000 total gold before your first rebirth. Here is why:

  • At 50K you get exactly 1 point, which gives +10% XP, +5% sell, +2% speed
  • Grinding to 80K only takes a few extra minutes but the bonus is the same (still 1 point)
  • Going past 200K for your first run takes a long time with no upgrade bonuses and the extra point is not worth the wait

Your first rebirth should happen roughly 20 to 30 minutes into your first run, depending on how actively you play.

Post-Rebirth Rush Path

After rebirth, you start over but with your prestige bonuses active. Here is the optimal restart:

  1. Start mining copper or chopping trees immediately
  2. Buy Auto-Sell first (500 gp) to go fully AFK
  3. Rush speed upgrades for your main skill since they stack with prestige speed bonus
  4. Reach Dark Forest ASAP (Woodcutting 10) for Iron/Trout access
  5. Buy Merchant's Eye once you are selling mid-tier items for maximum compound value

Each rebirth makes this loop faster. By prestige level 3 or 4 you will reach 50K gold in half the time it took the first run.

Is Multiple Rebirths Worth It?

Absolutely. The bonuses compound across runs:

  • Prestige 1: +10% XP, +5% sell, +2% speed. Noticeable but subtle.
  • Prestige 5: +50% XP, +25% sell, +10% speed. Skill leveling feels noticeably faster. Items sell for significantly more.
  • Prestige 10: +100% XP (double!), +50% sell, +20% speed. You are blasting through content twice as fast as a fresh character.

The speed and sell bonuses compound with upgrades too. At prestige 10 with maxed speed upgrades, an activity that took 10 seconds at the start now takes under 3 seconds.

Prestige Milestones

There are 3 milestones tied to rebirth:

MilestoneRequirementName
Reborn1 RebirthComplete your first prestige
Seasoned5 RebirthsYou are a veteran
Eternal10 RebirthsThe ultimate milestone

These milestones are tracked in your save and persist forever.

Optimal Long-Term Strategy

For fastest overall progression:

  1. Rebirth as soon as you hit 50K gold in early runs (don't over-grind)
  2. Push to 200K+ gold once you have prestige 3 or 4 (for 2+ points per run)
  3. Focus on unlocking all areas between rebirths so you can hit higher-value resources
  4. Max speed upgrades before XP upgrades since faster actions mean more gold per hour

The key insight is that time spent grinding past diminishing returns is time you could be starting a faster run with better bonuses.

Frequently Asked Questions about IdleRealm Prestige Guide | When to Rebirth

What is Prestige in Idle Realm?
Prestige (also called Rebirth) in Idle Realm resets your kingdom's progress in exchange for permanent multipliers that make your next run faster and more powerful. It's a core mechanic of idle/incremental games — each prestige run is shorter and more efficient than the last, eventually allowing you to reach endgame content in minutes instead of days.
When should I Prestige in Idle Realm?
Prestige when your progress significantly slows — usually when you've unlocked all current content and resource generation is no longer increasing meaningfully. Most idle game guides recommend your first prestige when you've been at 'slow growth' for 2-3x as long as your entire previous run. Early prestige = faster short-term gains but smaller multipliers.
What carries over after Prestige in Idle Realm?
Prestige typically keeps: permanent multiplier bonuses, special currency earned from prestige, any purchased prestige upgrades, and sometimes a portion of achievements. It resets: all regular buildings, resources, research, and progress toward standard milestones. Check the prestige preview screen to see exactly what carries over before committing.
