IdleRealm Guide | How to Play + Best Tips

IdleRealm is a free browser idle RPG where you train skills, gather resources, sell items for gold, buy upgrades, and eventually prestige for permanent bonuses. If you just started or want to optimize your runs, this guide covers everything you need to know.

Getting Started

When you first load IdleRealm, you create a character name and start in Starter Village. You have three gathering skills: Mining, Fishing, and Woodcutting. Pick any activity and your character starts working automatically. Each action produces an item that goes into your 28-slot inventory.

To earn gold, go to the Inventory tab and sell items. Gold is your main currency for buying upgrades in the Shop.

Skill Training Order

Not all activities are equal. Here is the optimal early game path:

Early game (levels 1 to 15):

• Mine Copper or Tin (4 gp each, 2.4s)
• Chop Trees (5 gp, 2.0s) is slightly better gp/s early
• Fish Shrimp (3 gp, 2.0s) gives fastest XP per hour

Mid game (levels 15 to 40):

• Mine Iron (12 gp, 3.6s) and Coal (20 gp, 4.2s) are solid earners
• Fish Trout (20 gp, 3.6s) matches Iron value with faster XP
• Chop Oak (15 gp, 3.0s) and Willow (30 gp, 3.6s) for Woodcutting

Late game (levels 40+):

• Gold Ore (40 gp, 5.0s) and Mithril (65 gp, 6.0s) become your main income
• Lobster (55 gp, 5.4s) and Swordfish (80 gp, 6.0s) are strong fishing options
• Yew Logs (90 gp, 6.0s) and Magic Logs (150 gp, 7.2s) for top Woodcutting income

End game (levels 85+):

• Runite Ore (200 gp, 9.0s), Raw Whale (250 gp, 10.0s), and Ancient Logs (400 gp, 10.0s) are the most valuable items in the game

Gold Earning Tips

Gold is everything in IdleRealm. You need it for upgrades and prestige unlocks. Here are the best gp/s activities at each tier:

The Merchant's Eye upgrade (+10% sell price per level) and prestige sell bonus (+5% per prestige level) stack multiplicatively, so late game income can be dramatically higher than these base numbers.

Upgrade Priority Guide

The Shop has 10 upgrades across three categories. Here is the priority order:

1. Auto-Sell (500 gp, 1 level) is the single most important upgrade. It auto-sells your cheapest stack when inventory is full, so you never have to manually manage inventory. Buy this first.
2. Bigger Bag (300 gp base, 7 levels, +4 slots each) gives you 28 extra slots at max. More inventory means longer AFK sessions before you cap out.
3. Speed upgrades (100 gp base, 20 levels each) give -3% duration per level for a specific skill, up to -60% at max. Massive DPS increase.
4. XP upgrades (200 gp base, 15 levels each) give +5% XP per level, up to +75%. Speeds up leveling significantly.
5. Merchant's Eye (1000 gp base, 10 levels) gives +10% sell price per level. Good ROI once you are past the early game.
6. Lucky Charm (2000 gp base, 10 levels) gives +3% double item chance per level. Nice for passive income but least priority.

Area Unlock Path

IdleRealm has 7 areas, each with unique resources. You unlock new areas by leveling specific skills:

Notice that Mining unlocks the most areas (4 out of 7), so it is worth prioritizing Mining speed upgrades early.

Offline Progress Tips

IdleRealm continues working when you close the tab (up to 12 hours of offline time). A few things to keep in mind:

• Set an activity before closing. Your character repeats whatever activity was last selected.
• Inventory caps your offline gains. If your bag fills up, no more items are gathered. Max out Bigger Bag and buy Auto-Sell to avoid this.
• Sell before going offline to free up inventory space.
