The Arcade Legends

Pac-Man

The most recognizable video game character of the 1980s. Navigate a maze, eat pellets, avoid four ghosts (each with their own AI behavior), and grab power pellets to turn the tables. The maze layout, ghost patterns, and scoring system of the original are all faithfully recreated.

Fun fact: Each ghost has a different personality. Blinky chases you directly. Pinky tries to ambush you from ahead. Inky is unpredictable. Clyde switches between chasing and retreating. Learning their patterns is the key to high scores.

Space Invaders

The game that started the arcade revolution in 1978. Rows of aliens descend toward Earth. Your laser cannon is their only opposition. Shoot them before they reach the bottom. The twist: as you destroy aliens, the survivors speed up.

The increasing speed creates one of gaming's most natural difficulty curves. The last few aliens move frighteningly fast.

Asteroids

Pilot a spaceship through an asteroid field. Shoot rocks to break them into smaller pieces. Avoid the debris. The vector-style graphics were revolutionary in 1979, and the inertial physics (your ship keeps drifting in the direction you thrust) creates unique gameplay unlike anything else.

Frogger

Get your frog across a busy road and a dangerous river. Cars will flatten you. Water will drown you. Logs and turtles are your friends (sometimes). The five home spots at the top each need to be filled. Simple to understand, maddeningly difficult to master.

Pong

THE original video game. Two paddles, one ball, first to 7 wins. Our version features 3 AI difficulty levels with neon retro styling. It looks simple because it is — but the higher difficulties demand precise timing and positional awareness.

The Console Classics

Tetris

Arguably the most important video game ever made. Drop shapes (tetrominoes), fit them together, clear lines. Created in 1984 by a Soviet engineer, it has been played by an estimated 500 million people worldwide.

The genius of Tetris is that it is simultaneously relaxing and stressful. You can zen out at low speeds, then suddenly the stack creeps up and panic sets in. Level progression, line clear animations, and that irresistible "one more game" feeling are all present.

Snake

Every Nokia phone owner's first addiction. Guide your snake to eat food. Each bite makes you longer. Don't hit the walls or yourself. The beauty of Snake is how it creates its own difficulty — the better you play, the harder it gets, because your own tail becomes the obstacle.

Flappy Bird

OK, this one is from 2013, not the retro era. But it channels the same design philosophy as classic arcade games: one mechanic (tap to flap), infinite difficulty scaling, and the raw compulsion to beat your high score. Getting past 10 pipes feels like an achievement. Past 50 feels like enlightenment.

The Puzzle Classics

Minesweeper

Installed on every Windows computer from 1990 onward. Most people clicked randomly. The actual game is a brilliant logic puzzle where every number is a clue. Learning to play Minesweeper properly — really reading the numbers and deducing mine locations — transforms it from a guessing game into one of the most satisfying puzzle experiences ever designed.

Solitaire

Klondike Solitaire defined the genre. Stack cards in alternating colors, build foundation piles from Ace to King, and try to clear the board. Our version includes undo, click-to-move, and win detection — quality-of-life improvements the original Windows version lacked.

Simon Says

The electronic memory game from 1978. Watch a sequence of colored lights and sounds, then repeat it back. Each round adds one more step. The current world record is over 31 steps. How far can you get?

Mastermind

The code-breaking board game from 1970. Guess the secret color code. After each guess, you learn how many colors are correct and how many are in the right position. Pure deduction. Three difficulty levels let you scale from casual to mind-bending.

Tower of Hanoi

The mathematical puzzle from 1883. Move a stack of discs from one peg to another, one at a time, never placing a larger disc on a smaller one. With 3 discs it is trivial. With 7 discs it requires 127 moves. The mathematical elegance of the solution is beautiful.
