Your car has momentum — you can't just stop instantly or spin freely. Braking before corners matters. Cutting the apex of a turn shaves fractions of a second per lap, and those fractions add up fast over multiple laps.

Greenfield Loop

The beginner circuit has wide-open corners, gentle gradients, and no hazards. Use this track to get the feel for how the car reacts to steering input at speed. The biggest mistake new players make is over-steering — small, smooth inputs beat jerky corrections every time. Aim for 3 clean laps before pushing for a fast time.

Desert Drift

Oil slick patches are the defining challenge here. Hit an oil slick at speed and your car loses grip and slides wide — often straight into the barrier. The key: treat every oil slick like a corner that starts 2 car lengths early. Brake before you reach it, not on it. The "drift" in the name is earned — controlled slides through oiled corners are actually the fastest line once you learn to read them.

Neon Nightway

Narrow straights punish wide lines, and the hairpin turns require hard braking from high speed. The neon lighting looks great but can make depth perception tricky. Focus on:

• Identifying braking points by the corner geometry, not the road color
• Taking the hairpin apex tight — missing the apex adds a full second or more per lap
• Using the wide sections between tight corners to build speed, not to relax your focus

Understanding the Ghost Car

After your first lap, a translucent ghost version of your car replays your personal best lap in real time. Racing the ghost is the most powerful tool in PolyTrack for improvement. Here's how to use it:

• Watch where the ghost brakes. If your ghost car brakes later than you're braking now, that's time you're leaving on track.
• Track where you diverge. The moment your car separates from the ghost's path is exactly where your technique needs work — not at the end of the lap.
• Use it for corner exit speed. Ghost car exit speed is usually the biggest visible difference. If the ghost pulls away after a corner, your exit angle is too wide.
• Beat it by one section at a time. Don't try to beat the ghost over the full lap immediately. Find one corner where you're faster and lock that in, then find the next.

Best laps are saved automatically. Every time you beat your record, the ghost updates to your new time — so the bar always rises.

Lap Record Tips

The Racing Line

The fastest path through a corner is not the shortest distance — it's the one that lets you carry the most speed through and accelerate earliest on exit. The classic racing line:

1. Brake in a straight line before the corner entry
2. Turn in late (closer to the corner than instinct says)
3. Hit the apex — the innermost point of the corner
4. Let the car drift wide on exit as you accelerate

In PolyTrack this matters most on Neon Nightway's hairpins. A perfect apex through the tightest turn can save 0.5–1 second per lap.

Brake Early, Not Hard

New players brake too late and too hard. The car locks up and you slide wide. Instead: brake early and smoothly, carry a little more speed into the corner, and keep the car stable. A slightly slower corner entry with a clean exit beats a fast entry that kills your exit speed.

Oil Slick Strategy (Desert Drift)

On Desert Drift, the fastest players actually use the oil slicks intentionally. A controlled slide on an oil patch through the right corner can be faster than a fully gripped corner — but only if you set it up right. Enter the slick at the right angle, steer through the slide instead of against it, and let the car's drift carry you toward the exit. It's high risk at first but becomes reliable with practice.
