Tile Merge

Combine 1+2=3, then double up. How high can you go?

How to Play

1. Use arrow keys or swipe to slide all tiles.

2. 1 and 2 combine to make 3. (1+1 or 2+2 do not merge!)

3. From 3 onward, equal tiles double: 3+3=6, 6+6=12, and so on.

4. A new 1 or 2 tile spawns after each move.

5. The game ends when no moves are possible. Go for the highest score!

About Tile Merge

Tile Merge is a free browser-based number puzzle inspired by Threes. Unlike 2048, you cannot merge two 1s or two 2s. Instead, 1 and 2 combine to form 3, and from 3 onward equal tiles double. This unique mechanic requires careful planning and creates a deeply satisfying strategy game. No downloads or sign-ups required.

Frequently Asked Questions about Tile Merge

How do you play Tile Merge?
Swipe to slide all tiles on the 4x4 grid. Tiles with value 1 and 2 combine to make 3, and matching tiles (like 3+3) double up. Keep merging to reach higher numbers.
What is the difference between Tile Merge and 2048?
Tile Merge follows Threes-style rules where 1 and 2 are special tiles that combine into 3. From there, only identical tiles merge. This adds an extra layer of planning.
What is the best strategy for Tile Merge?
Keep your highest tile in a corner and build a chain of descending values next to it. Avoid scattering large tiles across the board.
What is the highest possible tile in Tile Merge?
With skilled play you can reach tiles in the thousands. There is no fixed upper limit, so the challenge is to keep merging as long as possible.

About Tile Merge

Tile Merge is a number-sliding puzzle inspired by the classic Threes game. Unlike standard 2048-style games, Tile Merge introduces special pairing rules: tiles with values 1 and 2 combine to form 3, and from there, only identical tiles merge (3+3 becomes 6, 6+6 becomes 12, and so on). This extra layer of tile relationships demands more careful planning than traditional merge puzzles. You swipe in any direction to slide all tiles at once on a 4x4 grid, and a new tile appears after every move. The goal is to reach the highest possible number before the board fills up with no valid merges remaining. Keeping your largest tile anchored in one corner while building a chain of descending values beside it is the foundation of any strong strategy. Free to play in your browser with no download.

How to Play

  1. Swipe up, down, left, or right to slide all tiles on the 4x4 grid in that direction.
  2. Tiles valued 1 and 2 combine into 3. From there, identical tiles merge into their doubled value.
  3. After each move, a new tile appears. Plan your swipes to avoid filling the board.
  4. Keep your highest tile in a corner and build a chain of descending values for the best scores.
