Frequently Asked Questions about Retro Football Manager

How do I play Retro Football Manager?
You manage an American football team through a 10-game season. Before each play, you choose an offensive play call (like Pass Short, Run Inside, or Hail Mary) and your opponent picks a defensive play. The outcome is simulated based on your roster's stats and the matchup between your play call and their defense. Win games by scoring more touchdowns and field goals than the opponent.
What do the player stats mean?
Each player has three stats rated 1 to 99. Speed affects how quickly they move and their ability to break away on big plays. Strength determines blocking, tackling, and power running. Skill covers catching, throwing accuracy, route running, and ball security. Higher overall stats across your roster give you a better chance on every play.
How does play calling work?
You pick from offensive plays including Pass Short, Pass Deep, Run Inside, Run Outside, Screen, and Hail Mary. Each play has different risk and reward levels. Pass Deep and Hail Mary can gain big yards but are more likely to be incomplete or intercepted. Run Inside is safer but gains fewer yards. The CPU picks a defensive alignment, and certain defenses are better at stopping certain plays.
Can I save my season progress?
Yes. Your season record, current game, and roster are automatically saved to your browser's local storage. When you return, you can continue your season or start a new one. Your best season record is also tracked as a personal best.
What happens at the end of a season?
After 10 games, your final win-loss record is displayed. If it is your best record ever, it is saved as a new personal best. You can then start a new season with a freshly generated roster and try to beat your record.
