Frequently Asked Questions about Reflex Test

What are the 3 reflex test modes?
Visual Reflex: click when the screen changes color. Audio Reflex: click when you hear a beep. Choice Reaction: click the correct button when prompted. Each mode tests a different aspect of your reaction speed.
Which reflex test mode is hardest?
Choice Reaction Time is hardest because your brain must process which button to press, not just react to a signal. This is called 'choice reaction time' vs 'simple reaction time.' Most people are 50-100ms slower on choice tasks.
What is a good reflex test score?
For simple visual/audio reactions: under 200ms is excellent, 200-250ms is average, over 300ms is slow. Choice reaction times run 50-100ms higher than simple reaction times.
Is the audio reflex test accurate?
Audio reaction time is typically 20-40ms faster than visual for most people, because sound processing is slightly faster in the brain. This is why starting pistols are used in sprinting rather than light signals.
Is this reflex test free?
Yes! Play all 3 reflex test modes free in your browser on PlayBrain. No download, no sign-up, works on desktop and mobile.

About Reflex Test

Reflex Test measures your raw reaction speed with clinical precision. The concept is simple: wait for the screen to change color, then click as fast as humanly possible. Your reaction time is measured in milliseconds, giving you an exact benchmark of your neural processing speed. The average human reacts in about 250 milliseconds, but dedicated practice can push that number significantly lower. Multiple rounds let you track consistency and improvement over time, filtering out lucky clicks from genuine reflexes. The test also catches early clicks to prevent cheating. Whether you are a competitive gamer looking to sharpen your edge or just curious about your reaction speed, this tool delivers instant, accurate feedback on one of your most fundamental cognitive abilities.

How to Play

  1. Wait patiently for the screen background to change from red to green
  2. Click or tap the screen as quickly as possible once the color changes
  3. Avoid clicking too early or the attempt will be flagged as a false start
  4. Complete multiple rounds and review your average reaction time in milliseconds
