Frequently Asked Questions about Panda Nook

How do you play Panda Nook?
Give every row, every column and every coloured nook exactly one red panda. Pandas need space, so no two may touch, not even at the corners. Tap a square to cross it out, drag to cross out several, and double-tap where a panda must go.
Does every board have one answer?
Yes. Each of the 1000 boards is built backwards from a finished arrangement and then checked by a separate solver, so there is exactly one solution and it can be reached by reasoning alone, without guessing.
What happens when I place a panda in the wrong square?
The game shows it straight away and says which rule it breaks, and it costs one of your three tries for that board. Crosses never cost anything, and notes mode lets you pencil in an idea without risking a try. Out of tries, you can restart the board for free.
How does the Hint work?
Hint does not just fill a square. It points at the next square you can be sure about and explains why in plain words, such as a nook that only fits in one row. Find Panda places one correct panda and Mark Xs crosses out what a panda rules out. Each may play a short ad first; when no ad is ready, the help is free. Level 1 is a guided board that walks you through every rule and gesture.
How big do the boards get?
Five 4x4 warm-ups, then 5x5 from level 6, growing gradually to 9x9 by the end of the 1000. There is no timer and no move limit. After ten solved levels a daily nook opens, the same board for everyone each UTC day, with a streak.
How is this different from the Queens Puzzle?
Both use the same row, column and region rule. Queens Puzzle is our quick crown game with a daily board and unlimited random grids. Panda Nook is a hand-tuned campaign of 1000 boards that introduces one solving technique at a time, with tries, hints that explain themselves and Panda along for company.
Is Panda Nook free?
Yes. It is free to play on PlayBrain, with no download and no sign-up. Your progress saves in this browser, so use the same browser to carry on. The same game is also on Google Play for Android.

About Panda Nook

Panda Nook is a calm logic puzzle starring Panda, an original red panda looking for a nook of their own. The board is split into colourful nooks, each with its own outline and texture as well as its colour, and the job is to seat one panda in every row, every column and every nook without any two touching. The campaign runs to 1000 boards, from a guided 4x4 that teaches each rule on the board itself up to 9x9 grids late on. Every board was generated backwards from a finished answer and confirmed by a separate solver to have exactly one solution, so no square ever needs a guess. New solving ideas arrive one at a time, each with a short lesson the first time it is needed, and the Hint explains the next sure square in words instead of filling it in. A wrong panda costs one of three tries, crosses are free, and a daily nook with a streak opens after ten solved boards.

Prefer crowns and a quick random grid? Queens Puzzle uses the same rule with a daily board and unlimited 7x7 to 9x9 grids.
