What Is Sedecordle?

Sedecordle is the ultimate multi-word Wordle variant. You solve 16 five-letter words simultaneously with just 21 guesses. Every guess you type applies to all 16 boards at once, and you get color feedback on each one.

If you have played Dordle (2 words), Quordle (4 words), or Octordle (8 words), Sedecordle is the next step up. It completes the progression: 2 → 4 → 8 → 16 words. Most players who can solve Octordle regularly still find Sedecordle brutally hard the first few times — the information density is completely different.

Best Opening Words for Sedecordle 2026

Your opening guesses are the most important decision in Sedecordle. You want to cover as many unique letters as possible before doing any board-specific targeting.

3-Word Opener (Minimum Viable)

• CRANE — covers C, R, A, N, E (5 high-frequency consonants + vowels)
• STAID — covers S, T, I, D (avoids overlap with CRANE)
• LOUSY — covers L, O, U, Y (rare vowels + common consonant)

These 3 words cover 15 unique letters — enough to eliminate most possibilities on 8–10 boards after guess 3.

4-Word Opener (Recommended)

Add WHUMP or GLYPH as your fourth opener. Either adds 4–5 more unique letters (W, H, M, P or G, L, P, H), pushing total coverage to 19–20 unique letters. This gives you much cleaner information on all 16 boards before your targeting phase begins.

Strategy Tips for 16-Board Play

• Never solve boards in order. After your openers, look for the boards with the most greens — solve those first because you'll use the fewest guesses on them
• Use confirmed letters across boards. If you solve board 1 and learn the word was PLANT, the letters P, L, A, N, T are now confirmed — use them in guesses for other boards
• Scan the grid between guesses. After every guess, take 10 seconds to look at all 16 boards. Boards with 4 greens are almost done; prioritize those next
• Don't waste guesses on a stuck board. If board 7 has only 1 yellow and no greens after 8 guesses, skip it and solve easier boards first. Confirmed letters from solved boards often crack the stuck ones
• Use the zoom feature. Tap any mini-board to see its letter grid at full size — essential when boards look similar at thumbnail scale

Guess Budget Management

With 21 guesses for 16 words, you average 1.31 guesses per word. In practice, you spend 4 guesses on openers, then have 17 guesses to close 16 boards. That means most boards get exactly 1 targeted guess after your opener phase — so that guess needs to be perfect.

The key insight: your openers give you green/yellow feedback on all 16 boards simultaneously. A board with 3 greens after 4 openers usually only needs 1 more targeted guess. A board with 0 feedback after 4 openers might need 3–4 more guesses. Budget accordingly.
