The Basic Patterns

The "1-1" pattern: If a 1 has only one unrevealed neighbor, that neighbor is a mine. Flag it and move on.

The "satisfied" number: If a number already has enough flagged mines around it, all other unrevealed neighbors are safe. Click them.

Corner and edge logic: Cells on edges and corners have fewer neighbors (5 for edges, 3 for corners), making the math simpler.

The 1-2-1 Pattern

When you see 1-2-1 along a wall of unrevealed cells, the mines are under the two 1s. This pattern comes up constantly and recognizing it instantly saves time.

The 1-2-X Pattern

A 1 next to a 2 along a wall means the mine for the 1 is not shared with the 2. This helps you narrow down where the 2's second mine must be.

Counting Remaining Mines

Always check the mine counter. If the number of remaining mines equals the number of unrevealed cells in a section, they're all mines. Flag them all.

When simple patterns don't work, try "what if" reasoning. Assume a cell is a mine, trace the consequences through nearby numbers, and see if it leads to a contradiction. If it does, that cell must be safe.

Probability Zones

In endgame situations where you must guess, think about probabilities. Cells near large numbers are more likely to be mines. Cells in open areas with low numbers are more likely safe.

• Chord clicking: Click a satisfied number to reveal all its unflagged neighbors at once
• Work from revealed areas outward rather than jumping around
• Don't overthink. Most cells can be solved with basic patterns
• Practice the common patterns until they become instant recognition

Common Mistakes

1. Forgetting to count flags. A 3 with 2 flags only needs 1 more mine nearby
2. Not using the mine counter. When mines remaining is low, many cells become obviously safe
3. Guessing too early. Exhaust all logic before making any guess
4. Ignoring edges. Edge cells are easier to solve because they have fewer neighbors
