How Merge Blocks Works

5. Game ends when any column overflows to the top

The numbers follow a doubling pattern: 2 → 4 → 8 → 16 → 32 → 64 and so on. Your score grows with each merge, and chaining multiple merges in one drop earns big points.

Strategy Tips for Merge Numbers

Plan your columns. Before dropping any block, look at the current board state. Where will this block create a merge? Where will it get stuck?

Keep one column for overflow. Leave one column mostly empty as a safety valve. When you're about to overflow elsewhere, you can dump blocks there temporarily.

Prioritize chain reactions. A chain reaction is when one merge triggers another merge, which triggers another. These are the highest-scoring plays. Set them up by stacking same-value blocks near each other.

Work from the bottom up. Larger merged values should sit at the bottom of columns. Smaller values at the top give you more room to merge upward.

Don't spread evenly. Beginners often spread blocks evenly across all 5 columns. This kills your chain potential. Concentrate merges in 2-3 columns while keeping the others as backup.

The theoretical maximum depends on your board management. Most players reach 64-128 as their "wall" — the point where the board starts overwhelming them. Skilled players push to 256, 512, and beyond. The key is keeping chain reactions flowing instead of letting individual blocks pile up.
