How Idle Breakout Works

A grid of colored bricks fills the top of the screen. Each brick displays its HP. You start with one basic ball bouncing around, dealing 1 damage per hit. When a brick's HP reaches 0, it shatters and you earn coins based on its original HP value.

Use coins to buy more balls or upgrade existing ones. The game runs automatically — balls bounce and break bricks without any input from you. Your job is the strategy: which balls to buy, when to upgrade, and when to prestige.

Early game strategy: Stack Basic Balls first. Buy 5-10 Basic Balls before investing in a Sniper. The volume of Basic Balls clears early waves fastest because low-HP bricks break in one hit anyway.

Mid game shift: Once brick HP exceeds 50, switch to Sniper + Cannon combos. Snipers clean up weakened bricks while Cannons deal heavy damage to fresh ones.

Late game: Plasma Balls become essential. When bricks have thousands of HP, piercing damage across multiple bricks is more coin-efficient than single-target balls.

Upgrade Strategy

Every ball type can be upgraded for increased damage and speed. Upgrade costs increase per level.

Damage upgrades increase the base damage of every ball of that type
Speed upgrades make balls move faster, hitting more bricks per second

Priority order:

Damage upgrades on your most-purchased ball type
Speed upgrades once you have 10+ of a ball type (more hits per second scales with quantity)
Spread upgrades once your main ball type is maxed for the current wave

Wave Progression

Each wave fills the screen with a new grid of bricks. Brick HP scales with each wave:

Waves 1-5: HP 1-10 (Basic Balls handle everything)
Waves 6-10: HP 20-100 (Snipers become useful)
Waves 11-15: HP 200-1000 (Cannons needed)
Waves 16-20: HP 2000-10000 (Plasma Balls shine)
Wave 20+: Prestige available, HP continues scaling

Prestige System

After clearing wave 20, you can prestige. This resets your balls, upgrades, and wave progress but gives you a permanent coin multiplier that makes every future run faster. Each prestige increases the multiplier, so your second run reaches wave 20 much faster than your first.

When to prestige: Prestige as soon as wave progress slows significantly. If you are stuck on a wave for more than a few minutes, prestige and start fresh with the multiplier bonus.
